who are you?

So wrong, can’t embrace it
Wish sometimes for any other you
But you can’t erase it, and you won’t escape it
Don’t waste your time
Your words only confine you
To all of the things you’ve buried now
- Jars of Clay

wow

God just absolutely amazes me.
I have been praying for provision in general, and I have needed to procure a lap top but haven’t had the means necessary at the moment during this season of transitioning out of law into full time ministry; yesterday, over afternoon coffee with Suz, she nonchalantly informs me that she and [...]

and the beat goes on

Just had a fabulous lunch of butternut squash ravioli with sugar snap peas, carrots, and summer squash.  Read a little of Donald Miller’s “Searching for God Knows What.”  It’s a lovely day.  It’s Friday.  I’m training a new girl to help me come Monday; I’m digging my way out from under my desk.  I’m seeing [...]

quote of the day

Something I never thought I’d hear:
“And then, to top it all off, a diseased pigeon landed in my salad.” - My friend Annika (who just moved to New York)
Wow.

There’s something wonderful about reconnecting with an old friend.  Hung out with Xander last night and it was really good to catch up and just spend time together.  Plus the food was fabulous.  ;)

I love dialoguing, people, and relationships.
I’ve had the joy of having had scintillating conversations with two separate couples the last two nights in a row; I am completely sleep-deprived as a result of staying out much too late, but I am entirely satisfied with my decision.
There is something that is exhilarating, and dare I say, [...]

unveiled security

I drove into work last Thursday after being away from the office for over a week due to illness; I was still not well but I was having issues with my doctor’s office as my doctor was on vacation and the communication between the four nurses was less than helpful and more than confusing.
I finally [...]

Right now, I’m beyond tired, and this drizzly, grey morning isn’t helping my alertness; I have files stacked upon my desk over a foot high in some areas – being out of the office for a week unexpectedly doesn’t help with lessoning the workload. Good news is that they have hired someone to help me; [...]

i will never tire

Don’t say it was “delightful”; make us say “delightful” when we’ve read the description. You see, all those words (horrifying, wonderful, hideous, exquisite) are only like saying to your readers “Please will you do the job for me.”
- C. S. Lewis
(Thought of you, Dustin, when I came across this quote and figured you’d appreciate it.)

He was overly friendly but beautiful.
I’m not ready for bed…I’m thinking I should not have accepted that cup of coffee at 8:30 p.m.  The story I’m going to go with at work tomorrow when I’m falling asleep from lack of sleep tonight is that it was forced-fed and I had no choice.
Yes.
Christy’s world is fabulous.

I barely slept last night; today at work should be interesting…then getting fitted for Cherie’s wedding…I LOVE this bridal shop (sarcasm completely intended).  For Anna’s wedding, the main seamstress seemed to think it fitting that I flash the audience; it took me four fittings to get her to fit the dress properly.
Over the Rhine is [...]

I ran into Christine today at the coffee shop where I used to work; seeing her, and being back in the store, made me hunger to be a barista again, and I’m now lying in bed, fantasizing and scheming about working in a coffee shop when I should be sleeping.
I worked in various coffee shops [...]

“The reason God became flesh was so that we might know him; correspondingly, God did not create marriage just to give us a pleasant means of repopulating the world and providing a steady societal institution for the benefit of humanity. I found the below post from March 2006. Life has changed so much since that time but I could have written the below today; God is good, and loving him and living life is incredible - certainly not what I expected nor what I hoped for, but he knows me better than I know [...]

radioing heaven

One year ago today.
So much can happen within one year. Who would have thought I’d be here?
Thank God for his sovereignty and his love, no matter how difficult it may seem at the time.
Loving and following Jesus is the greatest adventure of my life; I could not ask for more.  I do wonder where [...]
