Side note.

It provokes me how few men will be or remain friends after they realize there is no hope for more.   Are we only valuable for our sexuality?  Of course the proper answer is “no” but the answer lived out is most emphatically “yes.” 

Of course, I’m writing from a woman’s perspective, and were I male, I might be asking the same question but I rather doubt it.  Although I might risk stereotyping, it seems to me that women are not only able but more willing to “just be friends” in a way most men aren’t.
