Smile like you mean it (The Killers)

My heart is full today. My house is clean. The candles are lit, the kettle is ready to be put on, the dessert is made, and I am freshly showered and awaiting my friend for an afternoon visit. And then it’s off to a work meeting…and then a friend’s birthday party.

Lauren and I had dinner last night and then Anna joined us and we hung out until almost 1 a.m., laughing hysterically, sharing, and enjoying each other. We went on a road trip because Anna’s husband’s car didn’t start, so we picked him up and dropped him off at another friend’s. At one point in the evening, we looked at each other, sitting around my living room, drinking tea and talking about work and laughed aloud. “Is this what we’ve come to?! Talking about work and drinking tea?” ;)
I am thankful for beloved girlfriends.

Anna W. stopped over earlier this week; I had gotten home from a long workday (about 9 p.m.) and she had called to say she had a gift for me and wanted to know if she could drop it off. She brought me a beautiful chocolate bound journal with the words “Love. Live. Life.” inscribed on the cover. Gorgeous. We talked, we shared, we prayed together and ate chocolate that she brought and surprised me with. I love that girl.

So much going on; so much to figure out; so much to do. Life is good. Life is great. Life is full. Gearing up for a new roommate. For all intents and purposes, I’ve been living alone for the last six months or so, so I’m getting ready to adjust to another roommate. It shall be a fun adventure. Hard to believe one season is coming to a close and another is beginning.

Reading Song of Songs lately. God wrote some pretty erotic things about the relationship between two lovers. No matter how many times I’ve read it, I still always slightly blush. It starts off with “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth - for your love is more delightful than wine.” And then later in the chapter, “While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance. My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts. My lover is to me a cluster of henna blosssoms from the vineyards of En Gedi…” and it goes on. Whoever says or believes God is uptight about sex or love needs to rethink that. ;) Anyway, I’ve also started another indepth study of Romans - one a theological, argumentative essay (the latter) and one a passionate description of two lovers (the former) and both the Word of God.
I find that very cool.
I like when my life becomes “normal” like this– by which I mean comfortable and interesting and routine– productive in terms of work, but with time still for fellowship. New things happening, but not completely overtaking the old things which continue.
I haven’t hit “routine” yet…I’ll be happy when I do, but I know what you mean! I love those seasons, too. *grin* Of course, when I realize I’m in them, I’m usually just about to transition out of them, hah.
