sucked in

I went to my mother’s tonight because I had some needed things to do there; today was a pj day…and I wasn’t expecting to have to leave the house but Mom needed me to head out there, so I said “Mother, I’m in my pjs, I haven’t even properly brushed my hair - I’m bumming around. No one is there, right?”
“Right! Just come on over.”
Of course, five minutes before I get there, a friend drops in unexpectedly, so I just pretended that nothing was abnormal about my crazy hair piled haphazardly atop my head or that I was wearing pjs.
*grin*
Anyway, Mother’s house has a habit of swallowing anyone who comes over - it’s something to do with Mom. She’s the greatest at welcoming people and inviting them, giving them the gift of herself…I was just going to take care of some paperwork and leave, and I told myself this sternly. Twenty minutes, that was it.
I left two hours later.
With homemade chicken/lentil soup and a chicken enchilada for later this week.
I love mothers.
And I love going home to visit - I was able to see four out of my six siblings and visit with Mom and her friend. It was a good night.
