vacation is lovely :)

Had a lovely date with Molly this morning; she’s in from out-of-town…went out for breakfast and sat there for over two hours, probably to the chagrin of the waitstaff, but the restaurant wasn’t busy so oh well. :)  It was great to catch up one on one.

Threw in a load of laundry.  Ordered a Markus [...]

innocuous: not so much

I’ve got this post-modern, interactive artistic piece stored in my home; I’ve tried to convince Becca it blends in and goes with my decor (it does – same color scheme) but she is not convinced…for me, I don’t notice it…
However, D. brought lunch over today and sat down at my table and then gasped and [...]

day, altered

Had many grand plans today, all scuttled because of the attack of a virus. ;)
Woke up at 5 a.m. because of the pain of a sore throat that came on. Lovely. Frustrated because I’ve been taking especially good care of myself lately. D. said today “Um, Christy, you do know people who take care of [...]

come quickly

[written December 26]
Had a great Christmas.
A bit mixed for me…sometimes I wonder if I have more grief work to do. I was depressed the last week or so…crying off and on and just feeling a heaviness. Not sure exactly why…not sure if Dad’s loss is the right scapegoat. Perhaps. I [...]

back

Over 400,000 customers lost power Sunday morning; I’ve been all over the greater metro area these last couple of days as a result; finally home and looking forward to a long, hot shower.
So thankful for those who serve us in getting our power back online. So thankful for heat and hot water [...]

christmas’ past

A friend asked for this piece…so I dug it up and I still rather like it a year later. ;)
what is christmas?
December 10, 2007
I might be entering crazy-zone, but I’m not really into “Christmas.”
I sat in church yesterday and was so thrilled to be there; I’m the type of gal who likes rebellion – [...]

waking up

This is surreal..I haven’t “lived” with my family for more than a day for at least two years…if spending one night can be considered “living.” It’s a bit odd, to be honest…I become the daughter again, the sister, the eldest, with a history. No longer an adult, no longer, fully…on her own, but [...]

craziness ensues like normal

I’m at my mom’s…five kids are playing video games – apparently borrowing a gaming system from one of their friends (I walked in and thought the earth had ended – we weren’t allowed to play games growing up ;); one sis and I are talking via the internet though we are in the same room [...]

pleasure

Currently enthralled with Lost.  I’m the type of girl that I am beyond incredibly passionate about whatever shows I’m into; if I miss one episode, I’ll forgo watching the rest of the season just so I can watch all episodes in order.  I’m that whacked. ;p  So, I missed the first episode of Lost, season [...]

content

It’s so dreary outside and the weather is bad today.  Hoping I make it to Mom’s later tonight okay; it’ll be quite the journey, especially navigating the long dirt country roads which aren’t cleared.
Last year, my family was sick and I was sick and I spent Christmas alone, the first time in my life, so [...]

yeah

[written last night]
Cranberry juice.
..
Long day.
..
Fun day.
..
Date with Becca.  Meeting with student. Retrieved car.  Drove through snow storm. Worked.
Not all in that order.
..
Rebecca gave me an incredibly beautiful gift…a cream colored iron star with “Faith,” “Family” and “Friends” stenciled on the edges in cranberry with little berry vines along the edges…picking up the cranberry vines I [...]

bitterly cold

It was -3 degrees last night; my toes were hurting so much from the cold they felt like they were simultaneously on fire and being attacked by an army of fairies with knives.  Yikes.  I was never so happy to get home and enter into the warmth of my apartment.
I’m venturing out again today to [...]

wanting

Friends came to pick me up last night; the roads were awful – four to six inches of snow still on them and cars were spun out all over the place.  We almost got stuck a few times but we did make it there and back safely.  I’m amazed at how many people showed up [...]

party

I just tied a festive ribbon round my neck.  Cannot tell if I like it, as I occasionally wear a ribbon round my neck or if I look like a wrapped up Christmas gift, lol.
Hmm…
I’m really not into parties.  ;)  But I’ll have fun, I’m sure.  I like one on one get togethers or small [...]

um…

So I got out there to start digging out my car and I actually love that because it’s so invigorating; one of my apartment’s snow plough guys (what does one call them?) came up and I waved to him and greeted him; asked him how his day was (hah), and he was cheery and was [...]

6-9 inches of snow on its way…we just had 3-5 inches.  Another storm coming on Christmas Eve…I thought this was supposed to be a mild winter?

strange

The last few times I’ve purchased alcohol, they haven’t carded me; I’ve even gone through the process of taking out my I.D. to show the cashiers (because they have always insisted and I like to save time) and they’ve waived me off.  Has a law changed or do I all of a sudden look really [...]

yum

A pomegranate for breakfast. A pomegranate for lunch. Some black, french-pressed coffee and some dark chocolate, infused with a white mint filling.
I need something more substantial for dinner than my fare today thus far. But the pomegranates are calling my name. I’m slightly obsessed.

self-examination

I am very much an introvert…there’s a dinner at this fabulous place (or so I hear) in the city tonight to send off one of my students who will be studying abroad this upcoming semester and I’d love to see her and hang out with the other students as well after their finals, but well…I [...]

life!

I’m going to have to probably put in $700 – $1000 into my car for regular maintenance…this weekend/early next week. Not looking forward to that. Sigh.

sigh

Looking for a dinner date tonight; not having much luck. Seems like everyone’s doing this Christmas shopping/holiday thing. ;) It also probably doesn’t help that I started asking at 4:45 p.m. about dinner plans. lol.
Or that most of my close friends have moved out of state due to the economy.

from the mixed up mind of…moriah ;)

Who I am and who I want to be are worlds’ apart.

Ruminating over much today.  A student is coming over – finals are over for them.  This month will be full on other fronts since I’ll have books and papers and projects to work on that will be due next month, but it’s a nice [...]

Sooooo excited about a number of things. :) Wahoo!
Life is beautiful.

The wind howls as it whips around the corners of my apartment building. I love hearing it.

Life is just always so full. So pregnant of ideas and possibilities and opportunities and trials and tests and blessings and joys. It’s just amazing to [...]
